PRESS BRIEFING | Update on the Implementation of the Immediate and Unconditional Ceasefire Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand

Keynote Address by by H.E. LTG. Maly Socheata, Ministry of National Defense Spokesperson:

1.Around 11 AM on August 1, 2025, the Thai side returned only two Cambodian military personnel who were injured. We thank the Thai side for returning the two Cambodian military personnel today. I wish to inform the public that the two personnel who returned this morning were received this morning at the O’Smach checkpoint by a delegations from the Ministry of National Defense and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, accompanied by a team of medical doctors.

2.Since their arrival, the two returned personnel have been receiving dedicated care and attention, with full support provided for both their physical recovery and mental well-being under the direct supervision of the medical team and senior leadership.

3.The Ministry of National Defense and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces strongly urge the Thai side to swiftly and safely repatriate the remaining 18 Cambodian military personnel, in accordance with international humanitarian law. At the same time, we will continue to pursue all diplomatic means to ensure the swift and safe return of our military personnel.
